Heckfield Place: A Tranquil Haven in the Heart of Hampshire, England

We’re always on the lookout for unique and beautiful destinations worldwide. Topping the list are hotels and resorts that share our passion for taking care of the environment and living that eco-friendly (and of course, luxury) lifestyle...

One such exciting discovery is Heckfield Place in Hampshire England. Although we haven’t visited first hand yet, this magical sanctuary has moved right to the top of our 'must-visit' list as it's undeniably the perfect place for nurturing the mind, body, and taste buds.

Located just an hour outside of London, it’s well known as one of England’s best country house hotels and the ideal place for a peaceful rural escape. Every design detail has been created to inspire and enhance guests relationships with our natural surroundings and this ethos is exemplified throughout Heckfield's 438 sprawling acres.

Heckfield Place has a rich history that adds to its charm. Originally built in the 18th century as a Georgian style family home, the estate has been meticulously restored to preserve its architectural integrity with each room showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and use of natural materials throughout.

The Gardens: A Botanical Wonderland

The expansive grounds are reflective of the Georgian era's emphasis on naturalistic designs and creating open spaces to host social and cultural events. Guests will deepen their connection to nature as they meander through woodlands of age-old trees planted by horticulturist William Wildsmith, delight in the secluded Walled Gardens, and enjoy a peaceful stroll to the upper and lower lakes.

Culinary Delights: Farm-to-Table Philosophy

"At Heckfield Place we believe that the very best tasting food is locally and responsibly grown."

One of Heckfield Place’s standout features is its commitment to culinary excellence. The estate’s culinary offerings, overseen by Skye Gyngell, source ingredients from the property's own biodynamic farm ensuring guests experience the freshest and most flavorful dishes with a menu that changes with the seasons.

The beautifully designed Marle restaurant has been awarded the prestigious Green Michelin Star. This accolade is granted to restaurants that "offer dining experiences that combine culinary excellence with outstanding eco-friendly commitments…”

If you're seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, The Bothy offers a range of wellness experiences. It's a true oasis of tranquility where all treatments and therapies are designed to promote holistic well-being. The healing power of nature is integrated into every aspect of its design as beautifully displayed in the Waters and Hydrotherapy areas.

You can indulge in a variety of experiences from massages and facials to meditation and yoga. Spend time with Master Practitioners who specialize in naturopathy, osteopathy, reiki, bodywork, and experience further wellbeing.

“Even before you reach the treatment menu, The Bothy is quite unlike any other British country-house spa I can think of. That’s due to the team having time and space to craft a spa that’s not intimidating – while remaining totally serious about what they’re doing here.” -Condé Nast Traveller

Sustainability at the Core

Heckfield Place takes sustainability seriously, and its organic Home Farm is a testament to this commitment. The estate's farm not only supplies the restaurant but also serves as an educational hub, offering guests the opportunity to learn about organic and biodynamic farming practices. This emphasis on sustainable living aligns with the estate's overarching philosophy of promoting harmony between guests and the environment.
